Living. one day at a time.

Tonight we fly

Sommarøy at night. Midnight sun behind the mountains creating a marvelous red hue all across the skies.

stoneage sheep at Hillesøy, Norway.
They’re cute as hell, but when I walked a bit too close, momma sheep got up and gave me a look that could split a rock in half. (you can see her already eyeing me up for measure there behind the kid)

moose female. Found her by some hay bales that were broken. the local fauna has been having happytime with the bales during the winter. Lovely grass from the year before.

She was shy at first, but I approached her sideways and made myself as small as I could, so she didn’t run off. Did a couple of runs around herself as if telling me she could fly off if she wanted to, but decided to stay and pose for some photographs.

three long months, one failed round, a busted light bulb, mah gurls are finally ready. Gonna be a mellow summer. Mellow Yellow to be exact.

Reindeer mother and calf.

It was pouring down this morning. So much rain, the forest was noisier than a freeway during rush hour.  Maybe this is why I managed to sneak up on this calf and its mother without scaring them away or getting trampled myself. While not as big and dangerous as a moose can be in calfing season, the reindeer can still run a man down and tap-dance on his face if put in a state of fight or flight.

At one point I was a mere 5 meters away. They fooled about a bit before they noticed me and started chewing their way in the opposite direction.
